Buckwaaz

Overview
Buckwaaz is a community-driven platform built to bring together creatives across India and South Asia through conversation, collaboration, and shared experiences. As a co-founder, I led the creative direction from the ground up, shaping everything from the brand identity and digital experience to the platform's content strategy. More than a visual identity, Buckwaaz was designed as a living brand that people could actively participate in rather than simply follow.

Project Background
The South Asian creative industry is filled with talented individuals, yet meaningful spaces for designers, artists, writers, filmmakers, and creators to interact beyond social media remain limited. Existing platforms often prioritise visibility over genuine conversation, leaving little room for collaboration, experimentation, or the messy reality of the creative process. Buckwaaz was created to change that. Built specifically for Indian and South Asian creatives, the platform embraces the chaos that naturally accompanies creative work. From its name and visual identity to its events and original content, every aspect of the brand was designed to foster an environment where creatives feel seen, heard, and encouraged to create together.
The Challenge
Creating a community meant building trust before building an audience.

- Developing a brand that felt culturally authentic rather than trend-driven.
- Creating a distinctive identity in an increasingly crowded creative landscape.
- Designing an ecosystem that could extend beyond a logo into events, content, and digital experiences.
Solution
The Solution
1/2
Instead of treating Buckwaaz as a conventional brand, I designed it as a flexible ecosystem. The name itself became the foundation, reclaiming the word Buckwaaz as a celebration of the creative chaos every designer, filmmaker, illustrator, and writer experiences. This thinking informed every layer of the project—from the bold black, off-white, and acid yellow identity to the unapologetic tone of voice, community-first platform, and original content formats. The brand came to life through three interconnected pillars: the visual identity, Buck Buck, our flagship virtual town hall for creative conversations, and an original mockumentary-style web series that transformed the brand's personality into stories people could recognise, relate to, and share.

Key Takeaway
Key Takeaway
The strongest brands aren't built around products—they're built around people. Buckwaaz taught me that when identity, storytelling, and experience are designed as one connected system, a brand becomes something audiences don't just recognise, but genuinely want to be part of.
